Danfoss AVTA Series

Danfoss AVTA valves are self-acting thermostatic water valves used for infinite, proportional regulation of flow quantity based on the valve setting and sensor temperature. Being self-acting, they operate entirely without auxiliary energy — no electricity or compressed air required — making them exceptionally reliable in industrial cooling duties.

AVTA cooling water valves open on rising sensor temperature and can be installed in either the cooling water flow line or return line. The pressure-relieved design means the degree of opening is unaffected by differential pressure across the valve, and the force-compensated construction makes the valve actively resistant to dirt.

Sizes available: Danfoss AVTA 10 (G ⅜, kv 1.4 m³/h), AVTA 15 (G ½, kv 1.9), AVTA 20 (G ¾, kv 3.4) and AVTA 25 (G 1, kv 5.5). NPT-threaded versions exist for AVTA 15, 20 and 25, and a stainless steel body is available in AVTA 15, 20 and 25.

Regulating ranges — the second half of the part number, and the one people forget. The same body size exists in several temperature ranges: adsorption charge 10–80 °C (all sizes, and the only range on the stainless body); universal charge 0–30 °C, 25–65 °C and 50–90 °C (all sizes); mass charge 0–30 °C (AVTA 15 and 20) and 25–65 °C (AVTA 15, 20 and 25).

An order that says only "AVTA 20" is incomplete — send the temperature range you are regulating to, and the body material, and we will confirm the code number.

Fit an AVTA when condenser water or a jacket cooling circuit needs throttling to hold a temperature and there is no power at the valve — engine cooling, compressor water-cooled heads, oil coolers and condenser water regulation are the classic duties.
