Danfoss ICLX Series

The Danfoss ICLX is a 2-step servo-operated main valve with pilot solenoid valves, part of the ICV Flexline™ platform. ICLX valves are used in suction lines for opening against high differential pressure — for instance after hot gas defrost in large industrial refrigeration systems running ammonia (R717), fluorinated refrigerants, or CO₂ (R744).

The valve opens in two steps: step one opens to approximately 10% of capacity when the pilot solenoid valves are activated; step two opens automatically once the pressure differential across the valve reaches approximately 1 bar. This staged opening prevents pressure shock in the suction line. The standard ICV Flexline™ housing makes the ICLX a plug-and-play solution with easy switching between valve functions (ICS, ICM, ICLX share the housing platform).

Sizes available: Danfoss ICLX 32, ICLX 40, ICLX 50, ICLX 65, ICLX 100, ICLX 125 and ICLX 150, with Kv from 22 to 390 m³/h. ICLX 80 is also supplied — it is the 80 mm connection variant on the DN 65 body rather than a separate chassis, which is why Danfoss writes the range as DN 25 to DN 65 (80).

Connections: D (butt weld EN 10220), A (butt weld ANSI B36.10), SOC (socket weld ANSI B16.11), SD (solder EN 1254-1) and SA (solder ANSI B16.22). Sizes 32 to 65/80 offer all five; 100 to 150 are butt weld D or A only. Pressure rating 65 bar on the smaller sizes, 52 bar on 100 to 150. Coils are 10 W or 20 W AC. The function module and top cover come factory-assembled on ICLX 32 to 150.

Fit an ICLX when a suction line has to reopen against high differential pressure after hot gas defrost and an ordinary solenoid would slam or hammer the line. The two-step action is the whole point — it lets the pressures equalise before the valve goes fully open.
