Sporlan MVE Series

The Sporlan MVE is a Type M body thermostatic expansion valve for R-22 with external equalization — M (body type) + V (R-22 refrigerant code, green) + E (external equalizer). The Type M sits in the medium-to-large capacity band of Sporlan's classic valve line-up, bridging the compact bodies and the large flanged H/V/W types, and remains widely specified in the replacement market for R-22 commercial and industrial plants.

As across the Sporlan TEV range, the MVE regulates liquid injection by evaporator superheat, with the signature Sporlan construction: large flat diaphragm, field-replaceable element, tight pin-and-port seating, and external superheat adjustment.

Nominal capacities available: MVE-21, MVE-26, MVE-34 and MVE-42 — nominal tons on R-22, not connection size. Above 42 tons the Type V (VVE) takes over; below about 20 tons, the Type H (HVE).

Thermostatic charge suffix: C (liquid charge, commercial refrigeration), CP100 (gas-cross with MOP around 100 psig, air conditioning and heat pump), GA (gas-cross pressure-limiting, anti-hunt), Z (liquid-cross, low temperature) and ZP40. A complete order reads like MVE-26-CP100. The suffix is the charge, not the orifice.

Connections are ordered separately — Type M valves ship "less connections" and the ODF solder or FPT flange kit is a separate line item. Type M and Type V flanges are interchangeable. Send the tonnage, the charge and the line sizes and we will quote valve and flanges together.

Fit an MVE when an R-22 plant in the 20 to 42 ton band needs its expansion valve replaced or resized — typically cold storage, process chillers and larger packaged plant.
